IDL Website candidate interview tips
First impressions count. It is worth taking the time out to preplan your route, making allowances for traffic jams and roadworks. If you are running late always call the client you are seeing and let them know. It is worthwhile trying to arrive as early as you can. So you will be able to compose yourself and make sure that you have your portfolio in job order.
It is essential that you find out as much as you can about the company you are seeing. The client will appreciate your keenness and ability to organise yourself. Company websites have a plethora of information about the company history and projects that they are currently working on. It is always a good thing at this stage to prepare your questions about the company and their future strategies.
Your consultant will inform you about the clients requirements including the role and responsibilities, company structure and what will be expected of you.
Be sure to make an effort to be enthusiastic, shake hands firmly, be confident and make eye contact. Let them know that you are the person for this job and that you have the ability to exceed their requirements.
During the interview, take time to answer questions and try to give examples about your work history and the position itself.
This is also a great opportunity for the interviewer to answer the questions you have prepared and don’t be shy about asking them for further information if you aren’t satisfied with the first answer.
On completion of the interview, be polite, thank them for taking the time out to see you, and let them know that you are interested in the position and you look forward to hearing form them.
Always remember to phone your consultant following the interview so that you can let them know how it went and whether you would like to take it any further. The consultant will then be able to discuss your feedback with the client and confirm your suitability and take things forward that will be most advantageous to you.
